Threads Helper

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 19, 2026  ·  Version 1.0

Short version: Threads Helper stores all your data locally on your device. We do not operate a database of your personal data. The only information that ever reaches our server is an anonymous device identifier used to verify your license — and nothing else.

1. Who We Are

Threads Helper is a Chrome browser extension that helps you save posts from Threads.com, analyze writing styles with AI, and generate new content. The extension is developed and maintained as an independent software product.

For privacy-related questions, contact us at: support@threadshelper.com

3. Local Storage — How Your Data Is Stored

All content you create inside Threads Helper — your saved posts (vaults), Style DNA analyses, generated content, folder structure, and application settings — is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own device.

This means:

You can export a full JSON backup of your data at any time from Settings → Export Data (Pro feature).

4. AI API Keys and AI Providers

To use AI-powered features (Style DNA analysis, post generation), you supply your own API key from one of the supported providers: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, xAI (Grok), or DeepSeek.

Your API key is:

When you use an AI feature, the content you submit (e.g., post text or a topic for generation) is sent directly to the selected AI provider under their own terms of service and privacy policy:

We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of whichever AI provider you choose to use.

5. License Validation (Pro Users)

If you purchase a Threads Helper Pro license, the extension verifies your license using a lightweight server-side check.

What is sent to our server

When you activate or validate a license, the extension sends:

We do not collect your name, email address, IP address (beyond what is inherent in any HTTP request and not stored by us), or any other personal information during license validation.

Token refresh

The extension periodically refreshes its license token automatically (when Chrome starts) to maintain your Pro access. Only the fingerprint and token are exchanged — no personal data.

How long this data is retained

License records (key hash + device fingerprint + license status) are retained for the duration of your license. If you request deletion, we will remove your device fingerprint from our records within 30 days. Contact support@threadshelper.com to make this request.

6. Payment Processing

Payments for Pro licenses are processed by Lemon Squeezy (a third-party payment provider). When you purchase a license, you interact directly with Lemon Squeezy's checkout. We receive a webhook notification confirming payment success and a license key — we do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or personal identifiers beyond what Lemon Squeezy shares with us (typically your order ID and license key).

7. Permissions the Extension Requests

The extension requests certain Chrome permissions. Here is why each is needed:

Permission Purpose
storage To save your posts, styles, and settings locally on your device using chrome.storage.local.
sidePanel To display the extension UI in Chrome's side panel while you browse Threads.
tabs To open the full-screen workspace in a new tab (Full Mode, Pro feature).
host_permissions: threads.com To inject the save button into Threads.com posts while you browse.
host_permissions: AI provider domains To send API requests directly to your chosen AI provider (Claude, OpenAI, Grok, DeepSeek) without routing through our servers.
host_permissions: license server To validate and refresh your Pro license token.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Threads Helper does not use cookies. The extension does not include any analytics, tracking pixels, session recording, or third-party monitoring tools of any kind.

9. Children's Privacy

Threads Helper is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our extension, please contact us at support@threadshelper.com and we will take steps to delete such information.

10. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we store almost no personal data about you, most of your data rights can be exercised directly by you within the extension:

For any other privacy requests, email support@threadshelper.com. We will respond within 30 days.

11. Data Security

All locally stored data is protected by your browser's built-in security model — other websites and extensions cannot access data stored by Threads Helper. License communications with our server are transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store sensitive payment data on our servers.

12. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also display a notice inside the extension. Continued use of Threads Helper after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

13. Contact
